Terry gained vast experience in the following areas of law :
• Civil litigation in the Magistrate’s & High Court, which entail Police Brutality, Medical Negligence & Tax Cases.
• Tax Law incorporating resolving Tax disputes with SARS through ADR & litigation from the Tax Board, Tax Court up to the Appellate Division.
• Terry is currently serving a 2nd and last 5 year term ending in 2028 as a Tax Board Chairperson in KZN. In his capacity as a Tax Board Chairperson, Terry presides over Tax Board matters and adjudicates in tax disputes within the threshold of R1 million, between SARS and aggrieved taxpayers and hands down Judgments.
• Terry also receives instructions from SARS, various taxpayers and Accountants / Tax Practitioners.
Fee Structure
Our guiding principles in charging fees are the following :
i) the complexity of the legal problem to be resolved
ii) the time to be spent to resolve it
iii) the time within which the problem needs to be resolved
iv) the availability of time to do the work, and
v) the skill needed to resolve the legal / tax problem.
Based on the above we enter into a fee agreement based on detailed
mandate contained in the letter of engagement with clients before any
work is done to allow client time and space to decide whether to engage us
and if so, to what extent. The first 45 minutes or part thereof of our
consultation is free.
